The technique used to create this unique piece is called electroforming. It is a complex process that utilizes electricity to “grow” copper onto another medium. During this phase, the copper grows organically, giving each piece its own unique textures and character. To me, it seems like magic.
Each piece spends 12 to 72 hours in the electroforming bath, gradually growing. Every item is an absolute one-of-a-kind and impossible to replicate exactly. Afterward, each piece is patinated, polished, and coated with a layer of wax or lacquer to slow down the oxidation process.
Care Instructions: Copper is a “living metal,” which means it reacts to its environment. Pure copper will continue to oxidize over time, gaining rustic brown tones and losing its shine. To keep your piece bright and shiny, you can use soap and a fine, gentle steel wool pad to polish it as needed. Make sure to fully dry it afterward. Store your piece in an airtight container away from sunlight, air, and moisture. Avoid wearing your piece while coming into contact with household cleaners, swimming, or engaging in any other physical activities.
